Hi, everybody. My name is Casper and I’m 8 years old. Here is my topic today: The Amazing Rainforest.
First of all, my friends, do you know what rainforest is? The rainforest is the warm, wet and dense forest with high amounts of annual rainfall and most of them are often located in tropical regions. They are generally warm and humid all year around.
The tropical rainforests are located in different regions near the Equator, including Brazil and northern South America, West Central Africa, Southeast Asia, Indonesia, and Northeast Australia.
The rainforest is so important that it is the home for millions of animals and plants, such as birds, spiders, tree frogs, monkeys, insects and bats. It is believed that over 50% of the world's species of plants and animals that live on land are found in the rainforest. Amazingly, only 6 - 7% of the total land surface on Earth is covered by rainforest.
There are 4 parts in the rainforest: Emergent, Canopy, Understory and Forest Floor. The first one is Emergent. In this part, you can see the tops of very tall trees. They are sometimes 60 meters tall! Many different birds, butterflies and other insects live here. The second one is Canopy. In this part, the trees have many leaves. In the tropical region, rainforest contains more broad-leafed trees. Birds, spiders, tree frogs, monkeys and snakes live here. The third one is Understory. In this part of the forest, it is dark, wet and cool. There aren’t many plants. Why? Because plants need light to live. Snakes and lizards live here. Jaguars like to live in this part too. The last one is Forest Floor. In this part, there are many insects and spiders. Some spiders are as big as plates! There are many large animals. And people live here too.
The most important rainforest in the world is the Amazon Rainforest. It covers over one billion acres in the South America. People call it the Lung of Our Planet because Amazon Rainforest is so important that more than 20% of the World Oxygen is produced in this region. That is the reason why we use the word Amazing!
But nowadays the rainforests are dying! Some of the world's rainforest has been severely impacted by our human activities. These activities usually include logging, growing crops, urban settlement, or raising farm animals such as cattle. Many trees have been cut and the forests are becoming smaller and smaller. We should protect the rainforests immediately because saving them is saving our planet! Without the rainforest, we can’t find another device to produce so much oxygen for our human being in the whole world!
I want to use Michael Jackson’s famous song to end my presentation. The song is Heal the World. I am quite confident that we may protect the rainforest successfully and build a better place for all livings in our planet.
Heal the World, Make it a Better Place.
For you and for me and the entire Human Race.
There are Jungles dying! If you care enough for the livings,
Make it a better place for you and me!
For you and for me…
For you and for me…
That’s all. Thank you for your attention. Bye.
