Happy friends in the forest
“This is the happiest peacock in the forest, she is Lucy.” The peacock called Nancy was introducing all the animals to a new friend – Wendy, who just escaped from a circus. She was a bear. “Hello, Wendy! Nice to meet you!” said Lucy with a smile on her face. “Hi, I am glad to meet you. Shall we make friends? I only have one friend – Nancy here, I’m almost alone.” Said Wendy. “Why not?” Lucy replied, “But I’m hungry now so I should have lunch …” “Wait!” called Wendy, “What do you eat for lunch? Fast food? Fruit?” “Just some insects and fruits.” “Oh, dear! I didn’t eat those when I was in the circus, I think I should eat those things now!” Wendy cried, she seemed sad.
After lunch, they chatted together, Wendy asked, “Why don’t we play marbles? I like playing marbles.” “What are marbles?” “These!” Wendy took out some little glass balls. They were colorful.” “How to play?” Lucy became excited. “First, draw a circle on the ground. Then, draw a straight line outside it, like this!” Wendy used her fingers to draw a circle and a straight line.” “Let’s put these marbles in these circle…OK, now choose a shooter.” Lucy found a beautiful marble and chose it to be the shooter. “Now, flick it! When your shooter went out of the circle, you can keep the other marbles outside the circle too! But when your shooter stays in the circle, you lost!” Wendy said.
The next day, Lucy’s “toes” (peacocks don’t have hands) and Wendy’s “fingers” all got red, because they flicked the marbles under the “moon light” all night!
